Baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and a powerful expression of true repentance. It represents turning away from an old life of sin and embracing the new life that comes from encountering Jesus personally. Going down into the water symbolizes dying to the past, and rising from the water symbolizes being raised into a transformed life through Christ. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change—a joyful step of obedience that reflects a heart made new by the saving grace of Jesus.
